Empowering Teams for Cross-Cultural Communication, Intercultural Synergy, and Collective Performance.

What is Team Coaching?

Team coaching is all process where a team coach works with an established team to clarify its vision, mission and improve both internal external relationships and resources. Team Coaching is typically carried out in a professional or organizational context, aiming at boosting the overall performance and effectiveness of the team.

“As your team coach, I’ll facilitate discussions, help identify your team’s strengths and challenges, set clear goals, and support your team in working together more effectively. Together, we’ll focus on building a supportive and collaborative team culture, improving communication, and developing both individual and collective skills to achieve your team’s performance and organization’s goals.”

How is Team Coaching Distinct From Other Significant Team Interventions?

Team
Building

Team building is usually a short, one-off event intervention (lasting one to three days), that focuses on improving interpersonal skills, professional competencies, relationships, productivity, and alignment with an organization’s goals. It is grouped under training that normally has a single session, while team coaching is a sequence of few sessions that spread over a number of months. It’s designed for sustainable change, enduring team performance, and measurable ROI, not just team bonding.

Group
Coaching

Group Coaching brings together individuals with shared personal or professional goals, helping them achieve those goals individually. In contrast, Team Coaching focuses on the entire team as the primary client, working to enhance team dynamics and performance, with the team operating as a unified entity.

Team
Facilitation

Team facilitation is about Team facilitation is about helping a team to have conversations, manage group discussions, and reach decisions. While a coach may use facilitative skills, team coaching goes beyond this. It enables every aspect of the process or solution to be in the team’s hands, giving members tools that improve performance and facilitate greater effectiveness in problem-solving.

Team Coaching is valuable in situations where:

  • When a team merges with another team or experiences a significant organizational change.
  • When a new leader or team member joins the team.
  • When team efficiency and productivity need to be improved.
  • When level of commitment drops, and the team is not meeting its goals.
  • When conflicts within the team need to be addressed.
  • When long-term projects are causing burnout and stress within the team.
  • When embarking on new and challenging projects.
  • To deepen understanding and value of inclusion and diversity

Team Coaching Process Roadmap

Stage 01
Discovery and Initial Assessment
Step 1: Fill out Team Questionnaire

Everyone on your team will complete an in-depth questionnaire that addresses the key dimensions of teamwork including: Communication styles, Conflict resolution preferences and Emotional Intelligence. This allows me to get a sense of individual and team-wide strengths, weaknesses, and where we can improve.

Step 2: 1-on-1 Sessions with Team Leader & Team Members

Then I’ll talk one-on-one with the team leader and team members to better understand personal goals, concerns and any cross-cultural communication challenges that might be getting in the way of the team’s performance.

Step 3: Stakeholder Survey Feedback

After I’ve seen all the questionnaire results and heard the one-on-one insights, I’ll share feedback with the full team. I will guide you through the important lessons and point out the strengths we can build on and the areas for improvement, such as using cultural intelligence to improve teamwork.

Stage 02
Design and agree on the coaching journey

Now that we had the inside-out, I will customize the coaching journey for your team. We’ll meet and tailor-make an agenda specific to you and a coaching process that will work towards your goals, challenges and outcomes. We’ll align on what we want to accomplish together and map out a realistic and actionable plan.

Stage 03
Team Coaching workshop 1
Building relationships, trust, and purpose

We will explore both of these concepts in this first of many workshops, we’re framing it around relationship building, helping us communicate together and establish ground rules for a collaborative team together. Here’s where we’ll work on building trust, clarify your team’s purpose, and align on shared values and beliefs. It’s about laying the groundwork so everyone feels linked, listened to, and wants to align themselves around a common cause that helps promote a more inclusive and high-performing working unit.

Stage 04
Team Coaching workshop 2
Awareness, relatedness, and ways of working

In the second workshop, we’ll take things a step further by improving team dynamics. We’ll explore how well team members from diverse backgrounds work together, enhance self-awareness, explore conflict resolution strategies that consider cultural differences and individual preferences. We’ll also define best ways for working together. This is about helping everyone understand each other better and make sure you’re all aligned in terms of how you communicate and collaborate moving forward.

Stage 05
Team Coaching workshop 3
Sustainable transformation, action planning and accountability

In this last workshop, we’ll be working on creating commitment action plans. We’ll define specific actions and content objectives to change how your team collaborates, and evaluate clear individual and group metrics against measurable goals.

Stage 06
Review Return on Investment (ROI)

Then, after the coaching is done, we’ll recap how everything went. We’ll explore their return on investment (ROI) and examine how the team has developed. This includes revisiting how much better we communicate, perform, and collaborate. It is also a moment to spot any remaining growth areas and to make sure the changes made stick for the long term.
